THE ROLE:
- Reporting into the Operations Director, the Warehouse Operations Manager will be responsible for a complex & fast-paced Warehouse & Logistics operation in the Mountsorrel area (north Leicester).
- Specific responsibilities will be across Warehouse functions such as Good In, Pick/Pack, Despatch, Stock/Inventory & Health & Safety.
- Responsibility for a team of approx. 45 core FTE headcount (Warehouse Managers, Stock Manager, Warehouse Team Leaders & Warehouse Operatives).
- Also responsible for additional agency staff (up to 30 at Peak).
- Utilisation of KPI's & Processes in order to manage performance.
- Managing the relationship with clients in a pro-active & collaborative "Value-Add" way.
- Able to understand client needs and respond to them pro-actively and positively.
- In this role, you will have the ability to drive Change & Improvement within the Warehouse operation.
- Reviewing of processes, systems of work & also warehouse layout/design from an operational standpoint.
- Management of P&L of approx £1m costs, SLA's etc.
- Recruitment, on-boarding and people retention within a Logistics setting.
- Utilising data to inform decisions and also provide regular reports to Senior Management.
- This is a broad & autonomous role where you will essentially be running an entire Logistics operation within the framework of a larger Logistics operation.
THE PERSON:
- Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager or Senior Warehouse Shift Manager ideally within fast paced distribution (Day 1 for Day 2).
- 3PL experience - ESSENTIAL
- Green Belt Six Sigma experience or someone with Lean/CI knowledge - DESIRABLE
- Overall warehouse management responsibility for at least 35 heads or more.
- Strong & demonstrable experience of improving warehouse/logistics performance in previous roles.
- Able to account manage clients in a pro-active & constructive way.
- Front-foot & hands-on leadership style - this role is very much a hands-on & full-on Warehouse Management role.
- Able to engage & motivate your people - setting highly professional standards.
- Ability to use data to inform some of your decision-making.
- Able to liaise from shop-floor to Board level.
- Able to challenge your team where appropriate.
- Someone who wants to play an integral part in building/growing a strong operation.
- Able to commute to Mountsorrel (north Leicester) on a daily basis.
