Our client is a dominant force in the London market, known for taking on technically challenging projects that others turn down. Whether it’s a “bare shaft” install in a new skyscraper or a complete strip-out and replacement in a heritage building, you will be the lead engineer driving the project to completion.

  • New Installations:

Fitting out modern MRL and traction units in the capital’s latest developments.

  • Modernisation & Refurbishment:

Executing full “open-protocol” controller swaps, machine replacements, and car interior upgrades in existing shafts.

  • The Location:

Site-based across Central London (Zone 1 & 2), with a focus on high-density areas like the City, Westminster, and Canary Wharf.

  • The Standards:

Ensuring all work complies with EN 81-20/50 and Lifts Regulations 2016

    (UKCA/CE marking).

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Installation:

Managing the mechanical and electrical installation of lift components from pit to motor room (or MRL cabinet).

  • Modernisation Specialist:

Executing complex “strip and fit” projects, often working around live building environments.

  • Site Leadership:

Supervising an Improver or Mate, ensuring productivity remains high and safety is never compromised.

  • Technical Troubleshooting:

Reading and interpreting bespoke wiring diagrams and layout drawings for non-standard shafts.

  • Handover Excellence:

Preparing the unit for the Testing & Commissioning Engineer, ensuring a high-quality finish with minimal snags.

Candidate Requirements

  • Mandatory:

NVQ Level 3 in Lift Installation

    (or equivalent).

  • CSCS Card:

Valid Gold Card (Skilled Worker) required for site access.

  • Versatility:

Proven experience in both new builds and modernisation/refurbishment projects.

  • Technical Skill:

Strong mechanical heavy-lifting skills combined with neat, accurate electrical wiring.

  • Communication:

Ability to liaise professionally with Site Managers, Architects, and Residents.

The Reward

Working for a major player comes with a package designed to reflect your expertise:

  • Basic Salary:

    Highly competitive + London Weighting.

  • Price Work & Incentives:

Lucrative “price” structures available for modernisation milestones and new install completions.

  • Travel:

Fully expensed travel (Zones 1-6 Travelcards/Oyster) or a high-spec company vehicle.

  • Benefits:

25 days holiday, enhanced pension, private healthcare, and life assurance.

  • Progression:

    Dedicated pathways into

    NVQ4 Testing & Commissioning

for those looking to move into a technical specialist role.
