FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT - PART/FULL TIME
RECfinancial are delighted to be recruiting exclusively for our Coalville based client, in the search for an experienced Financial Accountant on a Full or Part Time basis.

So, what's the purpose of the role?
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager your role will be to ensure all elements of VAT and duty are reported and paid to HMRC.
What are the main aspects of the role?
- Check and ensure that supplier incoterms are in place and have been operated correctly through transacting imports, leading to correct VAT and duty reporting and payment
- Check and ensure that the correct VAT and duty records are being used in finance and are being reconciled to MSS, C79, Postponed VAT and Deferred VAT reports.
- Stay up to date on relevant changes published by HMRC and share with finance and wider virtual team.
- Work with Purchasing, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Logistics, IT and Sales teams to ensure the above checks and reconciliations are undertaken at least weekly and if there are any corrections that these are processed in line with HMRC guidance.
- Act as first line responder to any queries on the financial side of duty and VAT.
- Coordinator of joined up responses across purchasing, procurement and finance.
- Run weekly transaction reports to determine if any other factor impacting VAT or duty is likely to give rise to errors. E.g. cross system naming conventions, dual incoterm supplies, incorrect credit processes, cut off issues, etc
- Act as finance lead on HMRC systems e.g. CDS (as it is replacing CHIEF) and be point of knowledge regarding changes to relevant legislation. Comfortable dealing with HMRC directly.
- Lead on corrections or adjustments with HMRC.
- Lodge all non compliance and audit checks in MyCompliance quality system
Who do we want?
- Solid knowledge of VAT and duty experience within a finance role
- Knowledge of Incoterms, Brexit regulations and European supply chains
- Ideally qualified or qualified by experience
- Previous knowledge of a supply chain business or UK importer would be advantageous
- Systematic in approach and a good coordinator of people across the business
- Attention to detail and technically competence.
- Used to working well with other functions in virtual teams.
- Solid under pressure and will strongly influence other areas / teams and levels of management.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word and Email.
